K.Petrošiutės „Dekompozicija“ paroda
Visas XX a. pradžios komercinis kinas buvo filmuotas ant itin degios ir chemiškai nestabilios nitratinės juostos. Kadangi reaguodama su aplinka nitroceliuoliozė lengvai keičia savo savybes, ant jos filmuotą medžiagą ypatingai sunku išsaugoti: kadrai keičia spalvas, blunka, juosta natūraliai suyra.
Kristinos Petrošiutės nuotraukų serijoje, vaizduojami stop kadrai iš Amsterdamo kino institute „EYE" saugomų nitroceliuliozinių kino juostų, skirtų išmetimui. Viena vertus, juose užfiksuoti negrįžtami kino vaizdinių pasikeitimai yra tarsi nebylus nekrologas bendrai tradicinio meno ir technologijų ambicijai - įvaldant gamtą, sustabdyti laiko tėkmę. Iš kitos pusės, šie „kadrų kadrai" ypatingai parankūs kelti klausimą apie materialaus kaupiklio pokyčių įtaką meno kūrinio prasmei. „Dekompozicija" - tai mėginimas užfiksuoti laiko ir mirties procesų prigimtinį poetiškumą.
Kristina Petrošiutė (g. 1982) - Islandijoje gyvenanti fotografė. 2015-ais metais baigusi Profesionaliosios fotografijos mokyklą Reikjavike, ji dėsto, taip pat dirba su komerciniais ir asmeniniais projektais, eksponuojamais Islandijoje ir už jos ribų. Atsikartojanti Kristinos kūrybos tema - beverčiais laikomi, nereikalingi arba išmesti daiktai.

Until 1951, all commercial cinematic film prints were made on a base of nitrocellulose, which is both highly flammable and chemically unstable. Due to the sensitive nature of this substance, film from that era is notoriously difficult to preserve, with various chemical reactions between the film and elements such as moisture, heat and acids in the natural environment causing color to fade, mold to grow, the film to shrink, or become brittle and finally turn to dust.
“Decomposition” is a series of images, taken at the EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam. Petrošiutė manually photographed film that was intended for the trash, and in doing this documented the outcome of an interaction between two environments, the living and the recorded. She examined the decay caused by the collaboration between time, natural elements and the chemical base of the film. The series thus serves to record evidence of the way in which nature can poetically affect humanity even if on a small scale. The tables being turned on us with delicate spider-webs of mold, bubbles of black and flares of white distorting and disfiguring the film, letting us know that, in the scheme of things, time and chemistry will have the last word.
Kristina Petrošiutė (b. 1982) is a photographer based in Iceland. She has exhibited both locally and internationally and graduated from The School of Photography in Reykjavik in 2015. Petrošiutė has since worked on both commercial and personal projects, along with teaching. Her personal work has a wide scope, though a recurring theme running through it is discarded matter, that is, things deemed to be worthless and therefore cast aside or abandoned.
